CERIS-FCT Workshop: Explosives

Event Information

The event "CERIS-FCT Workshop: Explosives" is taking place on  19/10/2021 from 10:00 till 13:00.

About the Workshop

As stated in "A Counter-Terrorism Agenda for the EU: Anticipate, Prevent, Protect, Respond” (COM(2020) 795 final), terrorism remains a real and present danger. As this threat evolves, so too must our cooperation to counter it. The transnational nature of terrorist networks requires a strong collective approach. Society as a whole needs to be engaged: citizens, communities, faith groups, civil society, researchers, businesses and private partners. Furthermore, multiple attacks throughout the EU show that the threat from homemade explosives remains high. Thus, in this workshop, EU policy initiatives in this field will be presented, together with the threat and trends in Europe, Interpol activities, and trainings for practitioners. EU security research projects will discuss their work based on a realistic scenario developed by practitioners, from three key angles: prevention, detection and neutralisation. The workshop is on invitation-only and will give space for exchanges, awareness raising and creation of synergies.
